The Technology Department of Brunswick County Schools under the leadership of Leonard Jenkins has worked diligently to provide up-to-date hardware and connectivity to all classrooms and workstations in Brunswick County Schools. The current Brunswick County Schools Technology Plan was developed in 2005 and represents the scope and sequence at that time. In addition, the 2005 plan is aligned with the previous state goals and objectives. A new plan aligned to the Future-Ready Students for the 21st Century goals is due to NCDPI by November 3, 2008. It is our goal to make this new plan a true working measure of the use of technology within Brunswick County Schools. By utilizing the lessons learned through the data collection and measurement of the previous plan, it is our intent to improve our assessment, monitoring and evaluation of technology tools to better serve the students of Brunswick County and to better maximize our technology funds. It is the vision of this department to provide students with the student-centered learning environment and to promote learning as a lifelong process as recognized in Brunswick County Schools' Mission Statement. In addition to aligning with the vision and mission of the overall school system, it is the vision of this department to lead Brunswick County Schools in the implementation of the Future-Ready Students for the 21st Century goals adopted by the NC SBE in 2006. More importantly however, the vision of this department is to provide the necessary tools to meet the needs of the students of Brunswick County Schools. The Future-Ready goals point to the need to provide every student the opportunity to be competitive in an international.
