Dear Parents and Community Stakeholders:
Welcome to Brunswick County Schools' official NC Report Card website. The district and individual school report cards are valuable tools for superintendents, teachers, parents and community members alike to better understand where local education stands in a given year. We are very proud of the student achievement in grades PreK - 12 and value the partnerships in the county who can all take credit for the success in the school district.
It is important to say the accomplishments of our school system are based on excellent students and their guardians, highly qualified administrators, faculty/staff, as well as community and business support.
Under the federal No Child Left Behind legislation, all school districts are required to report annually individual school and district wide performance. The Report Card information is for the 2008-2009 school year. This Report Card includes important information about school and student performance, class sizes (clarified in more detail with the individual schools), attendance, school safety, school facilities, instructional resources and teacher quality. There is also data about how schools measured against federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) targets.
In the Brunswick County School System, we want parents and community members alike to be informed about our progress and be involved with our schools on a regular basis. The educators of Brunswick County feel this is paramount in student success. It is our hope that the NC School Report Card will be a valuable tool in learning more about your child's school. It is the belief that everyone benefits from working together, especially in regards to children's future.
Please feel free to contact the principals directly to discuss this report card or any other interests you have in Brunswick County schools or contact my office at 910-253-2900.
I am extremely proud of the Brunswick County School System. The education of our students is top priority throughout the county. We eagerly accept the challenges of our mission, "to
prepare all students to be successful and productive citizens in a highly technological and diverse society." Our goal for today is our promise for tomorrow--continuous improvement will yield excellence for Brunswick County.
Sincerely,
Katie M. McGee, Ed.D.
